symptom of bacterial vaginosis There really are only a few symptoms of bacterial vaginosis but the unfortunate problem with most of the symptoms is the fact they are similar to other symptoms of other vaginal problems women can have.

Fishy Vaginal Odor

The worst and most obvious symptom of bacterial vaginosis has to be the vaginal odor that is often described as fishy.

It may also be described as generally foul or musty, but the fishy vaginal odor is what makes women take notice that something is wrong.

The fishy vaginal odor can often be worse after sex or during your period.

The first thing you are most likely to think is that you are unclean and that you have not washed or cleaned yourself well enough. You then try all sorts of scrubbing, washing, douching and maybe even perfume to try and hide the hideous fishy vaginal odor.

While some of these attempts may work very temporarily they will not get rid of the bacterial vaginosis problem and there is a very good chance they will only make the situation worse.

Itching and Burning

These symptoms of bacterial vaginosis can also be associated with many different problems and other vaginal infections so they are not good indicators of exactly what kind of problem you may have.

You may have one or both of these symptoms and the burning may occur during urination.

Some women may also have tenderness or soreness around the vaginal area and intercourse can be difficult and painful.

Abnormal Vaginal Discharge

The symptom of abnormal vaginal discharge can be also be hard to determine because women vary in this department also.

Typically the discharge is usually white or gray and is thin. It will also tend to cling or adhere to the vaginal wall.

Rather than trying to compare yourself with other women, simply if you have noticed a recent change in your normal discharge or secretions then this may represent a problem.
